Christmas ale

Well I must you, I was almost disappointed at the anti climax, I popped the lid of the bottle in the garden with my jug ready and nothing happened! Just a normal bottle of beer for me.

Cheers,

The Perfect Pint?

Last year's Xmas beer almost certainly isn't it. But with a bit of care it certainly can look pretty.

Be brave, use a large jug & drink it.

Whatever you do I still need the bottles for next years brew.

On that topic, I've just tested it & it's fermented out to 6%.

Merry Xmas 2013.

John Pritchard's Guinness

Despite a number of invitations, John never collected his Guinness. I thought I had better check it was still OK before I contacted him again.

Considering how lively it was when it was conditioning there was no fizz when I opened the bottle.

I did get a good head on it though.

The head didn't last long but there is still a slight prickle of carbonation.

It has that bitter, almost burnt hit of the real black stuff & a thick texture with a pleasant smokey finish.

Considering we just ran off a few bottles 11 weeks ago I think this is an unexpected treat.

And John, if you're reading this, I have the other 2 bottles still available.

Yeast pitched

Done by half four. We are getting efficient at this.

Roll on Christmas. Let's hope it's not too explosive.
